"The red leather jacket. The yellow eyes. The zombies. The dance. That laugh. Think what you want about the late man himself, but videos don't come much more culturally significant than Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
Which is exactly why the Library of Congress has seen fit to include the groundbreaking 1983 music video as one of the 25 films to be added to the National Film Registry this year.
The preserving body typically selects films that are "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant." Not to mention films that are, well, actual films.

But Robbie Williams stuck it to him for the decade's most successful act...

The markets will crash, the seas will rise, and the Four Horsemen will surely approacheth, because it's official – James Blunt's Back to Bedlam was the UK's bestselling album of the decade. Blunt's 2004 debut, seen by some as an easy-listening masterpiece, by others as a banal and soppy travesty, beat out Dido's No Angel and Amy Winehouse's Back To Black to be named the noughties' most successful release by the Official Charts Company.

In the United States, Americans had the decency to make the Beatles' compilation disc, 1, top of their 10-year chart. In Britain, however, the Fabs only came in at number six with the rest of the UK's top 10 filled by Leona Lewis, David Gray, Coldplay, Scissor Sisters, Take That, and one more Dido record.

While James Blunt has every reason to celebrate, he was not in fact the decade's most successful act. Counting across releases, and including back-catalogue sales, according to Music Week the trophy belongs to Robbie Williams. The former Take That singer sold 12.18m albums between 1 January 2000 and 26 September 2009 (when data was last tabulated), followed by Westlife at 10.14m, Coldplay at 9.12m and Eminem at 8.01m. Eminem also topped the Americans' 10 year sales list, edging out the Beatles.

Williams is also the artist with the most albums – five – in the noughties' top 100. Putting the list into further perspective, Susan Boyle's recent (albeit record-breaking) debut is already at number 56.

For better and for worse, Blunt gets to have the smuggest grin on his face. When Back to Bedlam was released in 2004, first-week sales were just 482. It didn't crack the UK albums chart until the following year, when radio plays of You're Beautiful drove the maudlin ballad deep into Britain's collective consciousness. That song – and the album from which it's taken – went on to sell more than 3m copies in the UK.

I still love Weird Al's 'You're Pitiful', which really summed this whole album up

Robbie has every reason to be so very smug

This story just keeps getting weirder....

Brooke Mueller has not gone into hiding after her Christmas Day incident with husband Charlie Sheen. Mueller, who tearfully told a 911 dispatcher that Sheen was threatening her with a knife on Dec. 25, was out and about in Aspen, Colo. (where the alleged incident took place) on Monday, E! News reports.

The 32 year-old attended a cocktail party at her mother's home and hit celeb hangout Caribou Club and "stayed until closing time," a source tells E!. (this would be Dec 28).

Aside from starring as Blair Waldorf on the CW’s “Gossip Girl,” Leighton Meester is also the latest actress working to become a pop star.

On Friday Meester will perform her single, “Somebody to Love,” and other songs from her electro-pop debut album (currently without a name or release date) at Underground (doors open at 10 p.m., $20 cover; RSVP to vip@rockitranch.com by noon Friday). It will be her first trip to Chicago, and her agenda is simple: “We don’t have a lot of time,” says Meester, 23, from Miami. “We’re going to have a nice meal, we’re going to party, we’re going to do the show and maybe get to run around a little bit and see what the city’s all about.”

How much of a stigma, if any, do you feel as an actor turned musician?
I feel none, unless I’m asked that question.

Which actor-turned-musician do you listen to more: Heidi Montag or Joey Lawrence?
I wasn’t aware of either.

Of either one existing as a person?
No, I mean, I know who those people are, but I didn’t know that they were musicians or actors. I know Joey Lawrence is an actor, but I didn’t know that Heidi Montag was an actress. I think that if I look up to any actor/musicians, and there are quite a few of them, I really like Dolly Parton, 2Pac, Cher. I really like Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Lopez. There’s a lot of ‘em. more of this interview... )

During an interview with PopWrap about her mega-amazing year, talk eventually turned to Justin Timberlake and Gabourey Sidibe compared him to food. More specifically, toppings at a Cold Stone Creamery.

PopWrap: OK, so what was more awesome about 2009: getting a Golden Globe nomination or having Justin Timberlake announce your nomination?
Gabourey: OK, here's the deal with that. The way I feel about the Golden Globe nomination versus Justin Timberlake announcing it, it's like the nomination is That's How I Roll from Cold Stone Creamery and Justin saying my name is like cherries on top of That's How I Roll from Cold Stone Creamery.

PW: So what will you do when and if you finally meet him?
Gabourey: Oh, I'm going to pretend to be cool for exactly 10 seconds. Like, when I met Lance...

PW: On the "Jay Leno show," yeah, we all say [laughs].
Gabourey: How awesome was that?!? I just screamed but then I thought "calm down so you can be friends with him." So with Justin, I'm going to fake being cool for as long as I can so I can possibly be friends with him, maybe more! [laughs] See, I feel like he's not going to friend a fan.

PW: Um, you're peers now!
Gabourey: Are we? Oh please, I'm so not on Justin's level!

PW: Does he have a Golden Globe nomination? I don't think so!
Gabourey: True, but he's got like a million Grammys!

PW: Well, I think Golden Globes trump Grammys -- it's even got twice as many "Gs" in in!
Gabourey: Word. And there's one "G" in Gabourey too -- booya!

Couldn't get cut to work right, so whole IV is at the source! (for the record, I was gunna title the jump "my favorite color is fluorescent beige")

The wrestling world has lost a legend, as it's sad to report that former UWF and All Japan Triple Crown champion Steve "Dr. Death" Williams lost his battle with cancer last night, passing away at the age of 49.
We will have more details as we receive them and would like to pass our deepest condolences out to the family, friends and fans of one hell of a great athlete.

Williams began his career in 1979, originally trained for MMA, however began wrestling for Bill Watts' MidSouth Wrestling. He formed a team with Ted DiBiase, and feuded with Eddie Gilbert, and was one of a few number of wrestlers who got an early push when MidSouth Wrestling was bought by Jim Crockett and renamed Universal Wrestling Federation.

Williams had stints in both WWE and WCW, becoming WCW World Tag Team Champions with Terry Gordy.

In 2004, WIlliams underwent surgery for throat cancer and was declared cancer free for a year.

He worked briefly in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE's former developmental facility, teaming with current Raw superstar Jack Swagger.

He had a couple of matches this year before oficially retiring, following the death of longtime friend Mitsaharu Misawa.

Once again, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of a legend, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams.

Beverly Johnson may be one of the world’s most well-known supermodels, but according to a lawsuit filed by her ex-boyfriend Mark Burk he was paid to be the former supermodels man. According to TMZ.com, Burk is claiming that he was paid to be Johnson’s boyfriend and that during their relationship he was to receive exactly half of the earnings she made while they were together. Burk also claims that Johnson was willing to pay him “for the rest of his life in the same style and manner that was established.” No offense to Mark Burk, but his claims definitely sound a little suspect.

Why this may seem a little suspect )

Sir Peter Jackson has called receiving his knighthood an "incredible moment".

The honour, announced today, comes on the back of yet another box office success for Sir Peter, after his film The Lovely Bones was released on Boxing Day.
The film-maker is among five New Zealanders to become knights or dames in the New Year honours list.
Sir Peter, whose career started with the 1987 horror Bad Taste, was made a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2002.
That followed the final in his Lord of the Rings trilogy, which won nine Academy Awards in 2004 - the most won by a single film.
In a written statement, Sir Peter called receiving the honour an "incredible moment". "I didn't think anything would surpass the 2004 Academy Awards, but I was wrong."
The honour reflected New Zealand's "film pioneers" who blazed the trail for the industry, he said.
He added that it was a tribute to his parents, Bill and Joan, "who gave me the most valuable gift of all - unqualified encouragement and unconditional support, [and] would have been beside themselves with pride at this moment".
It is understood Sir Peter is now working to adapt the Mortal Engines fantasy novels for the screen, as well as producing The Adventures of Tintin and The Hobbit. His World War II film Dambusters is due for release next year.

NEW ORLEANS
— Lil Wayne emerged as a top-selling musician known for his clever wordplay and risque lyrics, but like rappers before him, he's staring down a year behind bars at the peak of his career.

The artist returned to his hometown of New Orleans for a performance Monday on what he's calling his farewell tour.

"I'm nothing without you," he told the screaming crowd of thousands of fans at the New Orleans Arena after opening the concert with "A Milli," which last year earned him a Grammy for best rap solo.

Due to recent events, I am compelled to respond in detail to accusations made against me, by my daughters. I love my Daughters, but I will not allow my children to disrespect me in my home. Contrary to what I have been accused of, I would never beat my children.

Perhaps, I should have been a stronger disciplinarian as they were growing up. I worked very hard so that my children would want for nothing. In hindsight, I see that it was a mistake to give them everything they wanted so that they could have the childhood I never had. Unfortunately, they have taken me, and the privileged life I have given them, completely for granted.

Instead of being appreciative and realizing how fortunate they are, my children have an inflated sense of entitlement and expectation without having to work or earn their way.

However, my 'children' are no longer children, they are adults and I am trying to instill in them values and a work ethic of their own. My mother always told me "too many grown people can't live in one house" so I encourage them to have their own homes if they cannot abide by the rules of mine. I am not an uptight Dad, I am as hip as they come but I will not tolerate being taken advantage of or disrespected, especially in my home.

I've been working since the age of 14, I bought my first car by myself. Nobody gave me a car. My kids don't even remember their first car. I grew up with 6 of us in an apartment fighting over one bathroom. My kids have never had to share a bathroom, let alone a bedroom.

I'm asking everyone to let this one go... I'm only being a good parent. I'm a great father and everyone who knows me, knows this is true.

Thank you so much,

With all my love,
Teddy Riley

So I went on Rosie.com today as I do everyday and saw this Ask Ro comment...

Which made me remember the exact blog question that this woman spoke of.

So here she is. Her name is Tracy Kachtick-Anders and here she is with her SIX children. Five of them adopted and one of them (the youngest) biological.

She's an artist and foster and adoption advocate and creator of the non-profit Open Arms Campaign, a writer, a doula, the inventor of the Sleep Tight Wedge and a single mother to six children.

You can read an interview with her here. I'll warn you now that it's tl;dr but really interesting. This is the same article that she linked Rosie to on her blog when introducing herself. The link will also show you more pictures of her and her artwork.

And for those who are confused as to WTF is going on check out the post from yesterday..

Taking a much-needed afternoon break from her mommy duties, Christina Aguilera was spotted shopping it up in Los Angeles on Tuesday (December 29).

The “Genie In a Bottle” babe first turned up at the popular Fred Segal boutiue, where show perused the racks for a new pair of shoes to add to her collection.

Not finished yet, Miss Aguilera then rolled over to the Neiman Marcus department store with her retail companion to search for a new ensemble.

Chances are, Christina was gearing up for her trip to Las Vegas - as she’s lined up to host a New Year’s Eve party at Sin City hot spot Tao on Thursday night (December 31).

I am beautiful...no matter what they say )
